Cecil began his journey as the protagonist of my 2011 undergraduate film from Kingston University. It is a homage to my heroes and heroines of 20th Century music and was nominated for a British Animation Award - Best Student film category.

 

The story follows a nostalgic old Sound Engineer/ Wizard who runs a dilapidated record store in Detroit. Unhappy with the state of the modern world he sets to work in trying to change it for the better. In his back room there is a fantastical laboratory where he breathes new life into the forgotten vinyls.

 

I am currently in the process of revamping the scruffy original with a view of creating a larger scale animated film from the seeds of this idea. Please scroll down to see the original short in full.
